I apologize that I cannot reply directly to some commments here because
there must be some sort of time limit to do so. with that said…
Habituation is a stepping stone to bringing the volume down, meaning I
believe it is necessary in order to have the chance to achieve a reduction
and/or silence. As long as the brain views the unwanted sound as a
“threat” it will continue to focus on it, staying latched onto it. It’s no
different that your brain signaling that you have a pain somewhere in your
body. You’re attention is brought to the problem until you either remedy
it or become indifferent to it.

PupJustU says:

hello! i didn`t find the tinnitus 101 video :(

Lillispod says:

Exactly “drive a person crazy” is how I feel a lot of the time. I’ve been
doing this now for over 10 years and don’t think I can handle it anymore.
I’ll be following you for tinnitus information.

Zachariha Rachel says:

Habituation is not a way to handle this…I know I have it & meditate
often. There are natural remedies out there…try posting that. smh

BodyLanguagePro says:

Thankfully, I have never had to struggle with Tinnitus, but the idea that a
sound simply wouldn’t go away is awful. These tips are helpful for anyone
struggling with tinnitus.

datpace says:

@afgfam786 Hearing damage can make you more prone to tinnitus but it
doesn’t mean you can’t get well. I would need to know more about your
history in order to better assess what the future might hold. You can
always email separate from the website.

babysittinglady says:

Wow, this lady really is the Tinnitus Expert. I need to talk to her.

better.

I’m glad you shared how to habituate tinnitus. The constant ringing in the
ears would be maddening.

JamesMasonBlog says:

I hadn’t even heard of Tinnitus until a month or so ago. I have only
experienced ringing in the ear, after using a loud piece of equipment for
an hour or so. Glad I watched the video and am looking forward to hearing
more in your up coming videos.

solarneddy says:

I was recently prescribed Citalopram and have developed tinnitus. I’ve
stooped taking the medication and so far the tinnitus has remained. I am
hopeful that it will subside in time and have cut out salt and asprin.

MrKayh1 says:

Scott Payne says:

Jen Great video

Bobby Johnson says:

I’ve had tinnitus for 3 years now and it really does start to drive you
mental after a while. I usually leave my extractor fan on when I sleep at
night which helps me sleep, but this can give me nightmares for some
reason. People don’t really understand how bad this tinnitus thing really
is.

whiskeyify says:

she talks about being in a resturant, that drives me crazy, any place with
a loud background noise makes it worse for me and I can’t hear the person
next to me either.

yogi2yogini says:

misterp4misterp says:

very interesting information on tinnitus

jsbatts says:

You can be in silence again. However in order to get to that goal it’s best
to habituate. Using a sound rich environment is a great way to do that. I
hope you get to enjoy silence again soon. 🙂 Jennifer Battaglino

jsbatts says:

@afgfam786 Thank you for your question. Actually a sound rich environment
can help. If the sound is too loud or a tone that is unpleasant, then it
can exacerbate the tinnitus temporarily. If it is over 85dbl then that is
the only time it can do “damage”. Best to listen to something you enjoy or
want to listen to, keep it like a barbershop quartet so you can still hear
the tinnitus. My goal when working with someone is habituation so they are
not reliant on masking.

boggie cruz says:

i need to know if there is a natural remedy

ulrich Panduro says:

I feel you. It is really hard when silence is completely gone. I destroyed
my ears playing drums, i regret it sooo bad.!

embryonic cells says:

thx for the video.I got tinnitus for 20 years now,i was a drummer in a
metal band,DJ and radio professional. I ve developed my ability to deal
with tinnitus but it s getting so loud, despite using hearing protection.
The thing is…besides brain training,is ther any efective kind of
treatment ? i ve changed so many things…but i just can t get away from
music 🙁

Maan Salha says:

Welcome to my world, I’ve got a bad case of Tinnitus.

TheHarwoodGroup says:

I’m a so happy you liked the video. As you can tell, I am only a
professional therapist…not actor. 🙂 Although I believe an eclectic
approach to conditioning/re-programming the brain is one of the most
effective ways to habituate and reduce the volume, there are other methods
out there. Music is obviously an integral part of your life and I believe
it should stay that way. If you want to discuss further, feel free to email
me.

Garry Arnephy says:

Hi, how do you reverse the noise, thanks Garry

Lindita. cd says:

Hi, did you publish your guide? Thanks!

katemckeon says:

tinnitus. What a great idea for a series.

TJ Pierce says:

Good work. My tinnitus sounds like a chorus of cicadas and it’s a sound I
love anyway so most of the time I hardly notice, and when I want to relax
and hear my cicadas, they’re there.

SoundCure Serenade says:

If you have tinnitus, see an audiologist. You may also have hearing loss,
and both need to be evaluated and diagnosed. Tinnitus also has other causes
any may require referral to an ENT or other medical professional.

Sirius says:

I don’t hear any tips from you, just definitions. Try pressing in front of
the ear lobes. That cuts mine in half, but only as long as I am pressing.

Guru Prakash says:

Thanks for video do you think in next 10 year we will have some remeady of
the same

Lamar Namou says:

Is Tinnitus suppose to ONLY be the ringing noise? Cause my ears are not
just suffering from ringing. I feel an annoying feeling in my area and
don’t feel just ringing.

Electronic Music Lab says:

Remedy? Nice way of looking at it, i definitely accept and have got used to
my tinnitus but i wouldn’t call this a remedy? to me a remedy is a cure, eg
no more tinnitus…

XanArt21 says:

First I would hear the ringing through the sounds of the tv/ refrigerator/
and I couldn’t bare to be in the same room as the vacuum cleaner. I think
most people can reverse the sound, I did it last week a few times but it
takes a lot of letting go of stress and focussing on your body. I’m also
going to have cranio-sacral therapy next week.

jsbatts says:

@coolsamar2000 Please email me from the Harwood Group site where you can
access my email and I would be happy to help you in any way I can. You can
get better. All my best.

hawkemom7 says:

I had suffered from Tinnitus 2 years ago but I was determined to find a
cure, I did the white noise, I used a fan at night, I put peaceful music on
my nano but when I was awake it drove me crazy,,,With the help from very
knowledgable people I did reverse the noise…Im so passionate about
helping people I have a guide ready to be published within a month…The
title is cure tinnitus naturally. I will post when it’s out, I know you all
will find it helpful.

TheHarwoodGroup says:

It is always better to be safe than sorry and everyone should see an
audiologist and/or ENT to address anything physical going on. One should
also ALWAYS rule out tumor as cause. However regardless of cause, whether
it’s physical or emotional, you can improve your situation through
habituation. Thank you for your comment.

Robert Martin says:

I don’t no anyone who has Tinnitus, but I can understand how it would be
very annoying.

jsbatts says:

Thank you for your comment and there are definitely ways to desensitize to
the noise and possibly bring down the volume. Please feel free to leave any
questions here in this forum or email me from the website. There is always
hope. 🙂
