This happened to my mom today suddenly. Never really heard of Vertigo. She
really freaked me out with the symptoms she was having, high heart rate and
such. Doctor tried similar exercises, still hasn’t helped.

LastHumansGarage says:

awesome trick. i have been “off” all day with BPPV for the last couple
months. Today I was a little “out of it” you know what I mean. I wasn’t
spinning, but just felt weird. I did this half sumerault thing. the first
time i didnt get any spins and probably didnt do it quite right. but the
2nd time.. whoa, the room was spinning. right when i got up from my crouch
with head and back level, but kept my head turned to my left. (my bad
side.) i suffered it out and waited for it to stop. after 15-20 seconds it
did. then i sat up fully. my head already feels clearer. i dont know if its
just a placebo im feeling, but i swear it fixed something.. ps im 43.

John Campea says:

This actually worked for me. THANK YOU. Seemed silly at first, but yeah, it
completely worked for me.

Am I understanding that the ear being treated is to be facing up?

Andrea Osojnak says:

DO NOT DO THIS! IT MADE MY SYMPTOMS WORSE!

Mariann Reid says:

I had a bout of vertigo a couple of months ago. It only lasted one day and
I did try this maneuver. Now I have tinnitus for a month. IENT says it is
possibly from the vertigo. Has any one else had this as a symptom of the
vertigo? And does anything work to get rid of it. The ringing is 24/7. I
just started on prednisone. Wondering if this maneuver might help with the
ringing but I don’t want to do anything that would aggravate either.

Mark Page says:

My vertigo is usually in the morning is that normally when it’s the
worst???? You don’t think I have a brain tumor or anything do you?

Charlie Savoca says:

Great information. I have seen a lot of patients with positional vertigo.
This is simpler than the Epley’s maneuver.

whoseeswho says:

For a few years now I have had these strange bouts with debilitating nausea
that lasts 5 or 6 days and I can not even turn my head much less move my
body without feeling as though I will vomit. I dont describe it as
dizziness so I didnt think vertigo was the problem. However its been 3 days
since my last bout started and I have been trying yet again to find answers
so that I can feel better. I found this video the last time I went
researching months ago but never tried it. Well tonight I tried it out of
desperation, and I am SHOCKED that within 30 minutes I was feeling better!
MUCH better!!! I still feel nausea but not nearly as badly. I was able to
get up and cook dinner and turn my head all without feeling as though I
would vomit. I still dont know if I have vertigo but I am SO SO SO happy
that I gave this a shot. You are the only person that has shown this
specific method on here to try. I can not thank you enough for this!! I did
a second treatment about 4 hours later in case it helped. Im pretty
confidant that when I wake up tomorrow my nausea will be either gone, or
drastically reduced. You have no idea how happy it makes me to know that I
dont have to lie in bed for a week completely miserable with this anymore!
I already have several other health problems to deal with. I will certainly
do this technique right away if/when it comes back. I would be more than
happy to pay you for an office visit to thank you for this video. Thank you
endlessly. Im so so so grateful for this and that it worked for me!

D Zielinski says:

This absolutely works. I thought it was amazing. I have been suffering
from vertigo for over 3 weeks. I did this and the room starting spinning
first slowly than faster and faster. After a minute or so it started
slowing down and then started to spin, then pause, spin, then pause and
then it stopped. I still feel nauseous but its getting better slowly.
This is fantastic. Thanks so much for putting this video out there. You
are awesome. BTW, I tried the Epley maneuver yesterday and things got
worse. That procedure is too complicated. Thanks again

Gymnastics Lovers says:

I have it and it lasts for 3 days and I’m 11 so it’s rare for me to have
it

njaycox says:

My husband experienced extreme dizziness, including hours of vomiting and
having to crawl to the bathroom. He would lay in there until it passed.
Diagnosed with Meniere’s. This doctor’s technique would most likely not
work for someone with Meniere’s and anyone who has THAT disease must get
medical help and also change their diet. Since going on an extremely low
sodium diet (and being diligent about it) and taking allergy medication for
going on 3 years..my hubby has not had a bad episode for about 2 years
now. He doesn’t even miss the salt anymore. Sodium in the quantities that
people consume it these days is really bad! Just thought I would add my 2
cents here. The method in this video probably works for BPPV but you need
to know if THAT is what is really your problem…and go from there.

Melinda Winter says:

I have bad vertigo and tinnitus. I now take ginger root pills – really
helps. I always had bad motion sickness, and the pills actually let me go
on a cruise. Love them.

alcro38 says:

I’m 34, in good health and this severe spinning sensation has only happened
once in the past. It happened again today but really bad. I sprung up from
sleep and everything in my vision was spinning anti clockwise. Closing my
eyes didn’t help so I just stayed still til it passed. Feeling sick then
sweating heavily followed.
Doing these exercises I noticed movement within my left ear (which has been
feeling clogged lately and I assumed it was just a wax build up from a cold
going around) and now feel better. Not 100% but better so I assume a few
more go’s and il be all good.
Thanks doc!

ray long says:

I had my first bad vertigo attack while driving back to my yard
after working all day making propane deliveries. It was a very scary
situation and I got very sick . All turned out ok and was helped getting
myself and the truck back to the yard. After twice to the ER and than to
the Nose , Ear , and Throat Dr. all tests from blood to cat-scan and ear
test all turned up ok . Since the first day of vertigo till now, its been a
week and I am starting to feel better, not as dizzy. I will give
this exercise and others a try and hope that it gives me the relief I
need.

Joe Collins says:

I am having a hard time discerning what side is effected. I turn my head
left and lay on my right and that makes the world spin. Does that mean my
left ear is affected cause I turned my head left or my right ear cause I
lay on my right side? Does it matter if I just do both sides just to be
sure i got them?

Kathy Kaes says:

Okay, first time I tried this I fell over where I got to the part where you
are trying to come up from back level. I was spinning that bad! Waited 15
minutes and tried again and this time the worst spinning was right at the
beginning when I looked up. The rest of it didn’t bother me much. The third
time, I had no spinning at all, so I’m very hopeful that did the trick! I
feel just fine now, although I’m a little paranoid still. It’s evening and
the mornings are the worst so I will see how I do tomorrow but my head
definitely feels better and I had a cool feeling in my right ear, which is
the affected side. Thank you so very much to Dr. Foster for her awesome
video and simple directions! 🙂

Izzaboutchu! says:

I had a job injury back in 2004 and that is when the vertigo started. I
was passed from one doctor to another and felt like I was caught in the
middle of a snowball. Finally, a friend of mine told me that her husband
had his cured after going to PT. So, I did that and it helped. I went for
about five years without vertigo…hoo wee! Then, this past week, it came
back. I had had an accident about 6 months ago that messed up my
jaw/neck/back/shoulder area. I went for PT for that, it helped, but it
always feels as though my jaw and neck area are really, really tight no
matter what I do. In PT, they had used a T.E.N.S. unit on me and I decided
just recently to buy one to see if it would help. It did….but the
vertigo ensued. It makes me wonder because when I was in PT, I had minor
bouts of vertigo…but I thought that it was the positions that they had me
in for my back. Now, I am wondering if the T.E.N.S. is causing this and
why. I don’t get dizzy after using it….it is later that the vertigo
ensues. Is there a correlation or not? I am not sure. Any ideas about
T.E.N.S. and BPPV?

I had Vertigo for the first time and it was scary. I tried these maneuvers
last year to get rid of my Vertigo. It truly worked. But, I need to tell
those of you who are sensitive to motion and get motion sickness, like me,
to be strong. You may end up vomiting afterwards. Seriously though, this
does work!

Mike Gouin says:

dose this work for menaires disease as well ??

MagiBEBG says:

LIFESAVER! I have been diagnosed with BPPV but the Brandt-Daroff exercises
didn’t really work well for me, also I couldn’t do the Epley maneuver
myself at home so I would have to go to the doctor every time I had an
episode. This maneuver is amazing! First time I did it though, it felt like
I made it worse, but I continued on and did the exercise in total about 5
times with 15 minutes breaks in between, after every repetition I felt a
bit better, after an hour after I finished I felt so good I even forgot I
had been dealing with dizziness that day! I really recommend it to everyone
dealing with BPPV, the best thing is that you can get rid of your dizziness
the very same day and you don’t have to suffer weeks or months! Thank you
doctor Carol Foster! You are giving some peace to many people dealing with
BPPV! I am so grateful!

I’ve had episodes of vertigo and I honestly believed at that point it was
better to die than to live in a violently spinning world.
